The Paris 2024 Olympic Games are already knocking on the door, including that of professional tennis. It was only last year that the Tokyo Summer Games were contested, which due to the Covid19 pandemic was postponed for a year from 2020, the original scheduling year.
The two events have therefore only been separated for three years: for this reason, the first announcements about Paris 2024 have already arrived. One of the first official events concerns tennis. The 2024 Olympics social account has established the date and location where the tennis tournaments will be held.
The five tennis tournaments will take place over ten days, from July 27 to August 4: men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles. The surface, on the other hand, could not fail to be the most famous in the history of tennis: the Roland Garros site will host the Paris Olympic Games.
So make way for clay for the Olympics, after the hard courts of Tokyo and, even before, Rio de Janeiro.
The expected protagonists: from Nadal to Djokovic
In Paris, many tennis players will want the coveted Olympic gold medal.
The two winners of the last Japanese edition will not be missing: Alexander Zverev for the men, Belinda Bencic for the women. Doubts about the presence, however, of the absolute host of Roland Garros, namely Rafael Nadal: physical condition may not help him until mid-2024.
The one who has already promised to be there, despite his age, is Novak Djokovic. The former world number one always wanted the Olympic medal for his Serbia, but his dream still slips out of his hands. It could also be the turn of Jannik Sinner, : Sinner, who chose to miss the Tokyo Olympics to get back in shape for the season on North American hard courts.
As well as Matteo Berrettini, who had to forfeit the Japanese Olympics due to injury.
