Feilding High School won the CD College Tennis Tournament held this week at the Whanganui Tennis Club.
Eight teams from across the Lower North Island took part in the three-day tournament, including four teams from Whanganui Collegiate School, two from Feilding High School, one from Whanganui Tennis Club and one team from Paraparaumu College.
Feilding A won the tournament, with Collegiate A finishing second and Whanganui Tennis Club completing the podium.
The top-ranked collegiate player and school A-team captain, Sasha Milentivijevic-Vague, won every set, with his singles tally of 72 wins to nine losses showing his class.
Sasha’s wins helped propel him to the S5 ranking, bringing him one step closer to being able to compete in ITF competition. His doubles partner, 9th grade student George Blundell, won all but the final against Feilding No 1 Fraser Waugh in a heartbreaking super defeat.
International Collegiate students Edward Poon, Paul Sangpakdee and Poon Punnarujawong were the only other undefeated local players.
