Special Olympics NY Summer Games are coming to Ithaca and Vestal


We talk a lot about the Special Olympics in New York and all the great things they do. Earlier this year, a The New York Special Olympics coach won the first-ever Lifetime Achievement Award and we couldn’t be prouder.

The 2022 State Summer Games are coming to Ithaca New York

We now know that the city of Ithaca will host the 2022 State Summer Games on June 24-25. There will be over 1,000 New York Special Olympics athletes and coaches from across New York State.

The State Summer Games are their biggest statewide competition of the year with 8 exciting sporting events. They include basketball, bowling, gymnastics, powerlifting, swimming, tennis, track and field, and volleyball.

Midway Lanes will host bowling events at the New York State Special Olympics Summer Games

For those of you who live in the Southern Tier, you’ll be happy to know that Midway Lanes in Vestal hosts bowling events. These athletes will do their part to make this event a fantastic event for everyone and they hope you do your part too.

Special Olympics New York needs 800 volunteers to support the Games. All volunteers must be vaccinated and you have record in advance. No sporting experience is necessary, just a desire to help.

Jobs include setup, parking assistance, meal distribution, awards coordination, athlete escorts, photography, timekeepers, scorekeepers, and more. If you want to support the Games but can’t donate your time, you can help them in any way monetary way also.
