MLB Brewers vs Cubs same game parlay (+360)

After yesterday’s victory, the Cubs have now won 4 straight games, 3 of them by a single point. However, it is the Brewers who are battling for the top spot in the NL Central. Their loss has them 4 games behind the Cardinals in that regard. Although this is the only game of yesterday afternoon, it will be mixed with several others. With the season series between these teams so tight, 8-6 against the Cubs, let’s make their 15th meeting profitable.

Over 6.5 total runs (-245)

Nico Hoerner 2+ total goals (+115)

Willy Adames 2+ total goals (-120)

Betting odds: +360

Let’s take a closer look at each step of our same game bet.

Over 6.5 total runs (-245)

We’ll start things off by targeting the total rather than predicting a team for several reasons. Above all, yesterday demonstrated just how favorable conditions are for batters at Wrigley Field this weekend. It will also be another afternoon game, so expect the same. It’s also largely due to inconsistencies and a lack of confidence from the starters on the mound. Obviously, they do not represent an entire game. However, when the ball can roll out of the baseball field with a flick of the wrist, any team can unexpectedly win.

This was demonstrated perfectly yesterday with 4 different lead changes in the first 5 rounds. There were also 11 runs scored in those first 5 innings. As for today’s starter in particular, Cubs Marcus Stroman has led the team to both a win and a loss against the Brewers this season. More recently, there have been back-to-back starts against the league’s worst domestics. Although he did not allow a run in his last outing, he allowed 4 in the previous start. Both ended in losses with a total of at least 9 points.

Brewers starter Freddy Peralta faced Stroman for a 5-4 Brewers win to start the 2022 season. However, he has been injured throughout June and July, and this will only be his 3rd start since returning . He opened things up losing to the lowly Pirates and only lasted 4.0 innings or less in 2 of those 3 starts. Although he has a history of success against the Cubs, he cannot be trusted in his current form either. After watching yesterday’s game, it’s clear that the total is the way to go in this game.

Nico Hoerner 2+ total goals (+115)

A contributor to that total should be Nico Hoerner. He’s not one of the Cubs’ household names, but he should be. He had a rare day off yesterday before coming on in the 8th inning. The young shortstop has 109 hits this season, just 9 behind team leader Ian Happ. However, he did it in 12 fewer games and is batting .300 on the year. We’re also targeting him as that average drops to 0.429 against Peralta. Even better, he has several doubles against him. While Hoerner is typically a contact hitter, conditions in Chicago have proven that even barely shooting the ball can turn into an extra-base hit. Feel free to play it safe with the affected prop, but we’re going to get a much better payout for its total bases.

Willy Adames 2+ total goals (-120)

One guy who is definitely one-shotting is the shortstop on the other side. Brewers Willy Adames are 2nd on the team with 170 total goals, behind only big man Rowdy Tellez. However, he did it in 16 fewer games and isn’t as dependent on the home run. That’s not to say he can’t go further in those batter-friendly conditions, as he’s hit 23 homers this year. He too has a great game today against Stroman. His sample size is even bigger, as Adames is 6 for 11 against the Cubs starter. More importantly, he has an incredible 1.091 hit percentage against him. With that kind of efficiency at the plate, Adames should also be a driving force in this game going over the total.
