MLB Blue Jays vs Red Sox same game parlay (+330)

The Blue Jays and Red Sox both have the tough job of being in the AL East and chasing the best Yankees in the league. Although this is more of a long-term goal, they can use this series to improve wildcard positioning. Toronto finished the first half of the season struggling. However, they came out of the all-star break with Friday’s absurd 28-5 victory. Boston entered the all-star break to face the Yankees, which is never fun. The Jays have already won this series, so let’s see how the final should play out.

In addition to this same gambling bet, be sure to check our thoughts on the side and in total for all games today.

Blue jays -1.5 (-105)

Both teams on 2.5 points overall (-230)

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. 2+ total goals (-150)

Betting odds: +330

Let’s take a closer look at each step of our same game bet.

Blue jays -1.5 (-105)

There’s no denying that the Blue Jays didn’t look great before the all-star break. However, they still won their last 3 games before the break and clearly came out on top against the Red Sox. Obviously, 28 runs can’t be expected every night, because it’s not NFL season after all. Either way, it’s no surprise the Jays opened at -130 and bet on such big favorites already. They won’t be able to have Alek Manoah on the mound anymore, but Ross Stripling should be able to outplay his counterpart. Stripling will also have the advantage of avoiding Rafael Devers, who was placed on the injured list yesterday. As solid as the Sox’s roster is, it’s their pitching team that’s held them back in the AL East.

They have well-known names like Nathan Eovaldi and Nick Pivetta in the starting rotation, but also unknowns like Brayan Bello. When it comes to Bello, there’s no reason to expect a rookie with 2 career appearances to keep guys like George Springer and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. in check. He allowed at least 4 runs in both games, with the Sox losing them by a combined 17-6 core. He’s likely to be retired early, but that’s only good news for the Jays. Boston’s bullpen has fallen a lot recently and is now the 8th worst in the league. With Toronto seemingly finding their stride to start the 2nd half of the season, they can really start with a series sweep against a division rival.

Both teams on 2.5 points overall (-230)

Backing both teams to produce might seem counter-intuitive to our prediction on the side, but that’s how great the Blue Jays roster can be. They may not score 4 touchdowns again like they did on Friday night, but they can definitely get at least 3 points. There’s a reason that total is the highest all day, set at 11 runs. This helps illustrate that both rosters have the ability to produce at the plate today. Boston’s inexperienced starter has already been discussed, so Toronto’s role in all of this should come as no surprise.

As for the Red Sox, they still have some of the best hitters in the league even without Devers. In fact, his teammate JD Martinez is above him with 30 doubles, the 2nd most in the American League. If that wasn’t enough, shortstop Xander Bogaerts is just a few steps behind him. With Alex Verdugo and Bobby Dalbec both having multiple hits yesterday, their lineup showed its depth. As stated earlier, it was their pitching that let them down. Their running production has proven game-tested, as evidenced by team totals of 6 and 11 in back-to-back games earlier this month against an incredible Yankees pitching team. Since the Toronto bullpen also struggled, the Sox can reach that total even if it comes later in the game.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. 2+ total goals (-150)

After Friday night’s blast of the entire Jays roster, things got a bit down to earth on Saturday. However, 1 guy who is still capable of being otherworldly is Vladimir Guerrero Jr. After leading the entire league in this category last season with 363 total goals, he is having another great season. He may not be at that rate, but his 174 goals in total is still good for 13th most this season.

Guerrero is known for his home run power, but he also has 98 hits on the year, 16 of which are doubles. It’s safe to say he had no problem hitting that prop in Friday’s series opener. However, he has had success against the Sox all season. He also hit that prop in 2 of 3 games in their most recent series. Facing such an inexperienced starter and a struggling Boston bullpen, Vladdy can show off his home plate prowess this afternoon.
