Laver Cup 2022: Everything you need to know about the tennis tournament – from Kate Middleton’s involvement to Andy Murray playing on the same team as Roger Federer
Tennis fans will have a unique opportunity to see some of the best players in the world in action at the Cup of the tank Open Practice Day at the O2 in London on September 22.

Roger FedererRafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray and Team Europe’s Stefanos Tsitsipas, along with Team World’s Felix Auger-Aliassime, Taylor Fritz, Diego Schwartzman and Jack Sock will be joined by their legendary captains Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe for their final preparations ahead of the Laver Cup competition, which has held September 23-25 at the O2.

“Tickets for all five Laver Cup sessions are sold out and the demand to attend this year’s event is endless given the unprecedented roster of players,” said Laver Cup CEO Steve Zacks.

“The Open Practice Day is an initiative to expand access and engage more fans in the Laver Cup, especially children and families, and to provide a fun and inspiring experience. It is important to note that all funds raised will be donated to the community through our charitable partnerships, ensuring there is a lasting legacy from the Laver Cup in London.”
What is the Laver Cup?
It is one of the most exciting tournaments for tennis fans. The Laver Cup pits six of Europe’s top players against six of their counterparts from the rest of the world. The tournament is a joint initiative of TEAM8, Tennis Australia, USTA and Jorge Paulo Lemann and is part of the ATP Tour schedule.

The fifth edition of the Laver Cup will be held at the O2 in London from September 23-25.

Who participates ?
Roger will join Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal. The four tennis legends are set to represent Team Europe and will be joined in the squad by Stefanos Tsitsipas and Casper Ruud while Bjorn Borg will act as team captain. They will face a Rest of the World team that has so far consisted of Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, Americans Taylor Fritz and Jack Sock, and Argentinian Diego Schwartzman.
What is the Duchess of Cambridge’s involvement?
A charity collaboration announced by the Duchess of Cambridge and Roger, on behalf of the Laver Cup, will have proceeds from the Laver Cup Open Training Day donated to two organizations of which the Duchess is patron – Action for Children and the charitable arm of the Lawn Tennis Association, the LTA Foundation. The Laver Cup will host over 3,000 local school children from 85 different schools across London on the Laver Cup Open Training Day to help inspire the next generation of London tennis players.

What is the Laver Cup Open Practice Day?
This takes place the day before the main event. This year’s event, to be held on September 22, Team World will kick off the session, training on the iconic Laver Cup black court from 12pm-1pm, followed by Team Europe from 1pm-1pm. 2 p.m. Fans will hear players and captains prepare for the weekend’s competition, all accompanied by upbeat music and the spectacular lighting the Laver Cup is famous for. Doors open at 11 a.m.
