THEN THEY TELL ME 15, 20 YEARS LATER YOU WERE THE GUY WHO GAVE US TENNIS RACKETS AND THINGS. BUT THAT’S WHAT DR JONES DOES. HE ENCOURAGES AND INCLUDES YOUNG PEOPLE. THAT’S WHY I SUPPORT HIM. The Weekend Warriors tennis circuit came to Jackson this weekend at Parham Bridges Tennis Center for the first time since 2019, drawing players from across the south. When asked how excited he was to be back in the tournament, Battlefield Community Tennis Association president Arthur Jones said, “You wouldn’t believe me if I told you. It’s exhilarating.” It was the first time in its 15-year history that the tournament was not held at Jackson’s Battlefield Park. That didn’t stop the attendees from having a great time. “Oh, I love this tournament. It’s a comer, one for all, you know? It doesn’t matter what level you are, just come sign up and have a great time.” The tournament ends tomorrow.
