Fundraising for the Special Olympics Tennis Team


A delegation from the Special Olympics Bermuda tennis program prepares to attend Special Olympics North America [SONA] The tennis championships in Hilton Head, South Carolina, with the island represented by Bridget Marshall and Micah Lambert and a fundraising event will take place before the competition.

A spokesperson said, “Preparations and fundraising are underway for a three-person delegation from the Special Olympics Bermuda Tennis Program to attend the Special Olympics North America Tennis Championships in Hilton Head, SC.

Special Olympics South Carolina will host the 20+ year event where athletes, primarily from across the United States, come to compete at all levels of tennis. Led by tennis coach Brent Smith, Bridget Marshall and Micah Lambert will be competing in the October 2022 event representing Bermuda.

“Bridget and Micah are no strangers to international tennis competition having competed in the quadrennial Special Olympics Dubai World Games in 2019 and most recently winning numerous medals in singles and doubles tennis at the 2022 Special Olympics USA. in Orlando.

“A two-day fundraiser will take place this weekend to raise funds to attend the championship and provide the pair with an opportunity for competitive development for the championship and the upcoming 2023 World Games in Germany. “Just Hittin’ It with Bridget and Micah” will take place on Saturday September 3 at Manders Tennis Management, Southampton Princess and on Sunday September 4 at Grotto Bay Tennis.

“Both events will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The community is invited to register for warm-ups and singles and doubles matches with Micah and Bridget. Donations can be made by registering for one of the events, donating onsite, or sending a donation via online bank transfer. Spectators are also welcome.

“Online registration for the event is currently open and closes Friday, September 2 at 12 p.m. Registration can still take place afterward by emailing or by participating in one or the other day, but places cannot be guaranteed after the online registration period.
