US Open 2022 schedule: full draws, TV coverage, channels and more to watch every tennis match

It seems likely that the end of an era is approaching.

Serena Williams said in early August that the “countdown has begun” to the end of her tennis career. She strongly suggested that the US Open would be her last tournament. Williams has won the most Grand Slam singles titles (23) in the Open Era. Only Margaret Court has more singles titles, 24–13 of which were won in the amateur era.

Williams won’t be the only tennis legend to descend on the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center and Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing, NY Rafael Nadal, who was halfway through the Grand Slam before withdrawing from the semifinals of Wimbledon, will enter the US Open hoping to win three Grand Slam singles titles in a calendar year. It would be the second year in a row that a male tennis player has won three after Novak Djokovic won the Australian Open, French Open and US Open in 2021. Djokovic will not play in the US Open 2022.

The two defending champions, Daniil Medvedev and Emma Raducanu, will be looking to make it two in a row. Since Williams won three consecutive victories from 2012 to 2014, a female tennis player has not won back-to-back US Open championships. Roger Federer’s five-match streak from 2004 to 2008 is the last time a male tennis player won in consecutive years.
